take off your clothes, i'm going to save your life

Thursday: I took an adult/infant/child CPR class through work, and now I am certified to save you, your baby, your baby's mama, and your baby's mama's mama, for the next 2 years. Although we didn't really practice infant and child CPR as much as talked about it in theory, so I'd be a little scared to have to breath into a baby. But your grandma is totally safe with me.

They told us that in the event of a total arrest, you need to get down to the bare skin in order to assess the breathing and possible injuries and find the sternum, so they require you to fully undress the person's upper abdomen. This includes cutting or removing a bra. I guess in theory, you're not gonna care if the wide world saw your boobs, if it means you live another day, right? But in practicing with the dummy, one of the required steps was unzipping its shirt, and I kind of mentally apologized to it for exposing it to the class. It was a dummy with no legs and I was worried about its modesty. So I wonder if the undressing thing would be a big hindrance for me in real life.

Friday: Saw Thank You for Smoking with Courtney and Jean and Jean's pal Paul. It was the first movie I'd seen in the theatre since Ryan and I broke up, and it was kind of symbolic I guess. For one thing, that was a movie I wanted to watch at Sundance, but because Ryan was so pissed that I was going to Sundance without him, I saved it as a gesture.

We watched it at the Nu Wilshire, which was a theater Ryan and I used to visit a lot. I made a point of getting a small popcorn and diet Coke and seasoning the popcorn the way I like it, with no butter or salt, and I used the cinnamon apple flavoring that they have at the Nu Wilshire which Ryan always hated.

I wonder when I will stop doing things symbolically and just do them because it's what I do. I guess that's when I'll know I'm truly over everything.

The movie was great though, and we saw trailers for a whole bunch of other crap I also want to see. I don't know how I will keep up now. No one wants to watch movies with me. I need to get Netflix and just rent away. But it seems like there's never enough time to watch all the movies and TV that I want to. I guess I'm going to have to start going to movies alone.

Also, we saw Catherine O'Hara at the theater, it was pretty cool, she was just standing there with some friends.

Saturday: Went thriftstore shopping, picked up a cute Banana Republic shirtdress for only $3. Ryan convinced me to let him meet me at SavOn as I did some shopping, and so we saw each other for about 10 minutes, for the first time in 4 weeks. It was sad and depressing, and I regret it very much. It hurt on every single level imaginable.

Visited Kim and Lyndsay out in West Covina and just hung out for a while. We played with kitties and watched silly television, it was fun. I saw Rascal's new hamster mansion, and discovered the magic of Peter Pan peanut butter on Ritz crackers. Mmmm... After the saddness of earlier, it was a relief to just be with people I love and laugh and relax.

Sunday: The wisteria is in bloom. My mother planted it in front of our house, so that now we literally are our name: Fuji-Wisteria, Ura-Behind. We live behind the wisteria. Har har.

Who knew my mother had a sense of humor?

For lunch Jana and I tried the famous Spoon House. Jana's cream sauce was a little thick for her liking, but I generally enjoyed my veggie pasta.

In the evening, Cyndi and I went to the mall and watched 16 Blocks. Two movies in one weekend, pretty good. We stopped in to that new Popstar store, and I took pictures of the garish pink exterior, mall security be damned. They sell the most outrageous and pointless crap, but I found that I kind of wanted the giant hamburger and hot dog pillows. So useless, and yet, I love stuff food items.

Obscene

Who wouldn't want to fall asleep on a beef patty?

My feet is my only carriage,
So I’ve got to push on through.

i'll watch some movies with you, just ask :) - do you want to see "awesome i f*ckin shot that"? - not on the same day as all the bike riders, maybe another day? are you even interested in that movie. courtney also really likes film - ask her too :) - ps. you forgot to mention that sakura was also there. oh and that you spilled your cinnamon popcorn all over courney.. hah!

when you said the spoon house before - i didn't realize that i had been there.. i really like that place even though it i thought it was weird when i first heard about it.

you know what the creepiest thing about cpr that i didn't like - was the in order to do cpr you have to crack the bone in people's chest that protects their heart (in order to get to it) - or at least that's what they told me in the class. maybe i'm wrong and maybe it's good that i never had to "save" anyone's life.
