german potatoes, giant tostadas
Friday: I had a Shamrock Shake for the first time ever. That was a scary 60 seconds of green mintiness.

For dinner I tried the Super Udon place that used to be the beloved Yellow Basket. It wasn't too bad for what was basically frozen udon noodles thrown in a vat of boiling water and then tossed in a styrofoam cup. At least they made it to order, right? Although, their shrimp tempura bowl was kind of yucky...

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we hauled ourselves out to Silver Lake and went to a German bar. We're just crazy like that. The Red Lion Tavern was pretty good, but what did I already say about dancing? There should ALWAYS be dancing. Instead there was a lot of German-performed Irish keyboard music, and a waitress in a German outfit with leprechaun ears. Confusing. Jana and her pals attempted to do Irish Car Bombs but they couldn't because the bar didn't have any Guinness. I ordered something that I thought might be "German fried potatoes" but ended up to just be fries. And I had a lot of hefeweizen, which I seemed to acquire a taste for. I guess when in Germany...

Saturday: Helped Jana clean a bit in her fancy new hardwood-floored studio in Koreatown. I call it the Pink Palace. Or was it the Pink Estate? Pink Palace sounds better. Well, whatever. It's pink. I forsee many a fun soiree to come in the loveliness of the blessed Pink Palace.
In the night time I went a-bowling with my old coworkers from Performance Publishing. Can you believe I ever worked at a place called Performance Publishing? I hate bowling, but it turned out mighty fun with the addition of beer and nachos. Robin gathered what seemed like 50 years worth of old PPG employees, and it was great to catch up and see what everyone is doing. Everyone is so much happier now. Hmm, I wonder why...

After that, I headed back to Koreatown with Courtney to see a Belle and Sebastian concert at the Wiltern. The show was quite awesome, and I very much envied all the cutie hipster rocker girls around with their cute asymmetrical bobs, mulletish bangs, vintage dresses and knee socks. So cute!

In spite of a busy day, I went to bed a bit sad. I guess saddness is my undercurrent now. Also, Jana moving made me a little sad, because she will be SO FAR AWAY. I will have to move down the street just to feel normal.
Sad is the new happy.
But this too shall pass.

Sunday: Went to lunch with Jana. We drove around Torrance determined to find a place we'd both never been before (or rather, I was determined, she was kind of along for the ride), and so we found this Mexican food place called Casa Pulido in the "Riviera" area. The food was so-so, but the salsa was quite good.

~~~
Tuesday: Lunch at the Torrance Farmer's Market. Bought $1 potted herbs, kettle corn, Brazilian BBQ. Felt sad, but fresh air is good for the soul.
~~~
Wednesday: I'm a cliche, so what. I broke up with my boyfriend, I cut my hair. Getting a haircut isn't new, but *this* haircut is new. I love it, layers and flips and bangs and all. Extra bonus: my dad hates it. Score!

We put the "sham" in shamrock
